Ben's Book Boutique is a small British operation making personalised picture books, one at a time.
It started the way most of these things start: I wanted a book for a child I know, one where she was the one in the story rather than watching someone else be in it. What I could find was either cheaply made or barely personalised — a name dropped into a template and not much else. So I made one properly, and then people started asking where I got it.
Every book is written and illustrated to work as a book first. The personalisation is not a gimmick bolted on at the end; the story is built around a child who has a name and a face, and the printing waits until we know whose. That is why nothing is in stock and why each order takes a few days — your copy is made after you order it.
The bit that actually matters
A child finding their own name inside a story does something a normal book cannot. They read it differently. They ask you to read it again. Most people buying one of these are not buying it for themselves — they are imagining someone else’s face when the wrapping comes off, and that is the thing worth getting right.
